“Music for the Soul”

Music can encourage, console and touch our heart and soul. The words of much of our church music is beautiful poetry that can inspire and shape our faith. Some of our musicians here at Holy Trinity have recorded music to support your prayers, meditation and quiet time with the Spirit. We have short refrains, hymns and Richard has offered a Prelude and Postlude.

We will add to this selection over the coming weeks.
If you have hymn requests, please let the office know: office@holytrinity.mb.ca.

The 23rd Psalm to the tune Crimond.

--

The Lord’s My Shepherd   CP#519
verse 1
The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want:
He makes me down to lie
in pastures green; he leadeth me
the quiet waters by.
Verse 2
My soul he doth restore again,
and me to walk doth make
within the paths of righteousness,
even for his own name’s sake.
Verse 3
Yea, though I walk through death’s dark vale,
yet will I fear no ill;
for thou art with me, and thy rod
and staff me comfort still.
Verse 4
My table thou hast furnishéd
in presence of my foes;
my head thou dost with oil anoint,
and my cup overflows.
Verse 5
Goodness and mercy all my life
shall surely follow me,
and in God’s house for evermore
my dwelling place shall be.

Now the Green Blade Rises

Now The Green Blade Rises
verse 1
Now the green blade rises from the buried grain,
wheat that in dark earth many days has lain;
love lives again, that with the dead has been;
love is come again like wheat arising green.
Verse 2
In the grave they laid him, Love by hatred slain,
thinking that he would never wake again,
laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen;
love is come again like wheat arising green.
Verse 3
Forth he came at Easter, like the risen grain,
he that for three days in the grave had lain;
raised from the dead, my living Lord is seen;
love is come again like wheat arising green.
Verse 4
When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain,
your touch can call us back to life again,
fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been;
love is come again like wheat arising green.

God Whose Giving Knows No Ending

God, Whose Giving Knows No Ending
Verse 1
God, whose giving knows no ending,
from your rich and endless store—
nature’s wonder, Jesus’ wisdom,
costly cross, grave’s shattered door—
gifted by you, we turn to you,
offering up ourselves in praise;
thankful song shall rise forever,
gracious Donor of our days.
Verse 2
Skills and time are ours for pressing
toward the goals of Christ, your Son:
all at peace in health and freedom,
races joined, the church made one.
Now direct our daily labour,
lest we strive for self alone.
Born with talents, make us servants
fit to answer at your throne.
Verse 3
Treasure, too, you have entrusted,
gain through powers your grace conferred,
ours to use for home and kindred,
and to spread the gospel word.
Open wide our hands in sharing,
as we heed Christ’s ageless call,
healing, teaching, and reclaiming,
serving you by loving all.

Goodness is Stronger Than Evil

Goodness Is Stronger Than Evil

Goodness is stronger than evil;
love is stronger than hate;
light is stronger than darkness;
life is stronger than death.
Victory is ours, victory is ours
through him who loved us. [repeat]

[words: Desmond Tutu; music John L.Bell]

Jesus Christ is Risen Today.

Jesus Christ  Is Risen Today

Verse 1

Jesus Christ is risen today, alleluia!

our triumphant holy day, alleluia!

who did once, upon the cross, alleluia!

suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

Verse 2

Hymns of praise then let us sing, alleluia!

unto Christ our heavenly King, alleluia!

who endured the cross and grave, alleluia!

sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

Verse 3

But the pains which he endured, alleluia!

our salvation have procured; alleluia!

now above the sky he’s king, alleluia!

where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Welcome Happy Morning

Welcome Happy Morning

Welcome, happy morning! Age to age shall say,
hell today is vanquished, heaven is won today.
Come then, True and Faithful, now fulfill your word,
this is your third morning: rise, O buried Lord!

Chorus:
Welcome, happy morning! Age to age shall say,
hell today is vanquished, heaven is won today.

Earth with joyful welcome clothes itself for spring,
greets with life reviving our returning king;
flowers in every pasture, leaves on every bough,
speak of sorrows ended,  Jesus triumphs now!

Chorus

Author and sustainer, source of life and breath,
you for our salvation trod the path of death;
Jesus Christ is living, God forever more!
Now let all creation hail him and adore.

Chorus

Loose our souls imprisoned bound with Satan's chain,
all that now is fallen, raise to life again!
Show your face in brightness, shine the whole world through,
hope returns with daybreak, life returns with you.

Chorus
[Voices United; 161]

Gloria ( Greig Setting)

Gloria (Greig Setting)

Glory to God,
we give You thanks and praise
of heav'nly joy and earthly peace we sing

we worship You,
to You our hearts we raise,
Lord God, Almighty Father
Heav'nly King.

Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father's only Son,
You bore for us the load of this world's sin.

O Lamb of God,
Your glorious vict'ry won,
receive our pray'r,
grant us Your Peace within.

Alone, O Christ,
You only are the Lord,
at God's right hand
in majesty most high:

who with the Spirit
worshipped and adored:
with all the heav'nly Host
we glorify.

Jesus Remember Me

Jesus, Remember Me

Jesus, Remember me

when you come into your kingdom.

Jesus, Remember me

when you come into your kingdom.

repeat as needed.

O Sacred Head Surrounded

O Sacred Head, Surrounded

Verse 1

O sacred head, surrounded

by crown of piercing thorn;

O royal head so wounded,

reviled, and put to scorn,

death’s shadows rise before you,

the glow of life decays,

yet angel hosts adore you

and tremble as they gaze!

Verse 2

Your youthfulness and vigour

are spent, your strength is gone,

and in your tortured figure

I see death drawing on:

what agony of dying,

what love, to sinners free!

My Lord, all grace supplying,

O turn your face on me!

Verse 3

Your sinless soul’s oppression

was all for sinners’ gain;

mine, mine was the transgression,

but yours the deadly pain:

I bow my head, my Saviour,

for I deserve your place;

O grant to me your favour,

and heal me by your grace.

Verse 4

What language shall I borrow

to thank you, dearest friend,

for this your dying sorrow,

your mercy without end?

Lord, make me yours forever:

your servant let me be,

and may I never, never

betray your love for me.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

Verse 1

When I survey the wondrous cross

on which the Prince of glory died,

my richest gain I count but loss,

and pour contempt on all my pride.

Verse 2

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,

save in the cross of Christ, my God;

all the vain things that charm me most,

I sacrifice them to his blood.

Verse 3

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,

sorrow and love flow mingled down;

did e’er such love and sorrow meet,

or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Verse 4

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

that were an offering far too small;

love so amazing, so divine,

demands my soul, my life, my all.

Were You There

Were You There

Verse 1

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Verse 2

Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Verse 3

Were you there when they pierced him in the side?

Were you there when they pierced him in the side?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when they pierced him in the side?

Verse 4

Were you there when the sun refused to shine?

Were you there when the sun refused to shine?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when the sun refused to shine?

Verse 5

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

Verse 6

Were you there when he burst the bonds of death?

Were you there when he burst the bonds of death?

Oh! Sometimes it causes me

to tremble, tremble, tremble:

were you there when he burst the bonds of death?

Lord Jesus Christ, Lover of All

Lord Jesus Christ - Lover Of All

Lord Jesus Christ, lover of all,

trail wide the hem of your garment,

bring healing, bring peace.
